How to use

Unlike the vast majority of circulation pumps that use alternating current (AC), the VarioS pump has several key advantages over traditional AC pumps: greater energy efficiency , safer operation with a working voltage of 36 V and variable speed control to adjust the ideal mix of air and water flow.

DC pumps have several key advantages over traditional AC pumps. In particular, by being able to control the rotation speed of the motor, you can electronically control water flow rates . DC pumps are also more efficient than AC pumps and produce less heat per volume of flow.

The pump and controller are connected via a 3-conductor waterproof junction. Detachable controller allows for simple waterproof attachment . The VarioS is also characterized by a really slow start, in which the pump slowly ramps up from zero RPM to the maximum preset speed over a period of approximately 10 seconds.

In addition, the spiral rotating diffuser allows you to adjust the orientation of the outlet horizontally or vertically (up or down), depending on your needs.

Under normal conditions of use, the VarioS pump has an expected service life/product life of 10 years.

Improved Control

With the custom controller, the user has full control over flow rates by selecting from five preset speed settings; indicated by five illuminated LEDs. With the touch of a button you can activate or deactivate a 15 or 60 minute feeding mode. In addition to allowing the pump to run at 5 different speeds, which is quite normal for a direct current (DC) pump, the new VarioS Controller takes the pump to a new level:

1. A float switch connection that allows a float switch (included) to be connected to the controller. This is an additional safety feature that allows you to turn off the skimmer pump when the skimmer is full or turn off the water pump when the water in the sump has reached a certain level (high or low). You don't need another module or controller to add a float switch to your system.
2. It has two different pause/feed modes that will turn off the pump in 15 or 60 minute intervals. These modes are useful when performing regular maintenance, such as a water change.
3. However, the best feature of the VarioS controller is the 0-10v input which will allow a third party controller (such as APEX or the Neptune system's Reef Keeper) to take over the pump and decide what to do. In this mode, the new VarioS controller becomes an interface between the system controller and the pump, allowing you to create complex programs using the native language of the system controller. This gives you unprecedented controllability in a skimmer or water pump. In essence, you can use your system controller as your DC pump controller.
