easysps is a natural freeze-dried food, specifically designed for sps corals with the unmatched quality of the Cádiz brand Easy Reefs
We recommend the simultaneous use of Easybooster with easysps in order to prevent system imbalances due to limiting nutritional factors.
Technical information
easysps is a food for SPS corals, specially formulated for this specific type of coral, although given its special characteristics of size range and composition it is also suitable for aquariums where this type of corals do not dominate.
It is composed of freeze-dried shrimp + microalgae + fish oil.
- Freeze-dried Palaemonetes varians
- Tetraselmis
- Phaeodactylum
- Isochrysis
- sardine oil
- Tocopherols
With these ingredients, a freeze-drying/agglomeration/shear grinding process is carried out from which we will obtain a range of food particles in the following sizes:
- 0.4 – 200 µm 54.90% of particles in this range
- 200 – 400 µm 28.30% particles
- 400 – 1000 µm 16.70% particles
Composition
Once we have achieved a certain range of particles, we analyze what they are composed of. Thanks to a cold manufacturing process (lyophilization and extrusion), a perfect conservation of all the essential compounds, already present in the raw material of this food, has been achieved.
– Proteins >50%: Apart from presenting a high protein percentage, this has been represented by the entire aminogram, that is, all the amino acids that are necessary for correct biological development are present in this food.
– Fats 6%: Perfect EPA/ARA/DHA percentages. These essential fatty acids derive from the special ability of the microalgae present in easysps to synthesize them, Phaeodactylum tricornutum, Isochrysis galbana (T. Iso) and Tetraselmis chuii.
– Carbohydrates 18%
With this nutritional profile we approach the same percentages present in both the coral tissues and the 50/30/20 plankton composition itself. The easysps is 50/6/18 and the zooplankton is similar to the easysps. The percentage varies more in the lipid or fat proportion, where as we can see, the proportion is further from the natural one (composition of the coral tissue). There is a reason for this, SPS photosynthetic corals are animals that live in symbiosis with plant cells (Zooxanthellae) from which they obtain part of their nutritional needs.
Zooxanthellae give to the coral, through translocation, 81% of lipids and some amino acids in small quantities, 2% to the amino acid Glutamine and 1% to Alanine, which are insufficient for its protein requirements. Therefore, the coral cannot live exclusively on its zooxanthellae and needs to obtain proteins or their precursors and carbohydrates from other sources, mainly from zooplankton, phytoplankton, bacterioplankton and to a lesser extent from amino acids dissolved in the water.
The nutritional composition of easysps provides corals with a source of proteins of high nutritional value due to its complete aminogram, a balanced lipid profile rich in EPA ARA and DHA, carbohydrates and bioassimilable essential micronutrients that are directly involved in the metabolic pathways of these animals. .
So between the contribution of Zooxanthellae and Easysps we will have all the nutritional needs covered in their necessary proportions.
Results
Having achieved an increase in the metabolic rates of corals by increasing their food sources available in the water, we will obtain a series of indirect benefits:
– Greater growth of corals: Pay close attention to the consumption of Calcium, Carbonates (Kh) and Magnesium, since these consumptions will increase due to the increased growth of corals. We recommend controlling it by testing the first weeks of using the product.
– Greater consumption of inorganic nutrients: The values of Nitrates and Phosphates will be decreased thanks to their consumption by corals.
– Improvement in the coloration of corals : According to Easy Reefs studies, the increase in heterotrophic feeding in corals leads to an increase in the concentrations of Peroxides inside the corals, until reaching bactericidal concentrations. This leads to a decrease in the concentration of Zooxanthellae in the coral tissue and an improvement in its coloration, also favored by the bioavailability of the complete aminogram and essential fatty acids in a perfect proportion, ensuring that there is no shortage of raw materials necessary for synthesize the pigments so sought after by marine aquarium hobbyists.
