Certainly known from the Thu Bon River system in Quang Nam Province and the Huong River Basin in Thua Thien-Hue Province, central Vietnam.
It has been collected from ditches, rice fields, ponds, marshes, hill streams and backwaters of larger rivers.

An aquarium with base dimensions of 80 * 30 cm or equivalent should be the minimum considered for a single pair.
Feeding:
It is likely to prey on insect larvae and the like in the wild, and should be offered small live or frozen Daphnia, Artemia, white worm, grindal worm, etc. in captivity. Some high quality dry products such as Sera Insect Nature may also be accepted.Behavior:
This species is relatively peaceful unless breeding. It can be kept as a pair or in a group and will show some interesting behavioral interactions in the latter circumstances.
