Seachem™ Conditioner Primer is a complete and concentrated conditioner for both fresh and salt water: removes chlorine, chloramine and ammonia and detoxifies ammonia, nitrite and nitrate.

Converts ammonia into a safe, non-toxic form that will be quickly degraded by the aquarium's biological filter.

Seachem™ Conditioning Primer can be used during aquarium cycling to decrease ammonia and nitrite toxicity.

Detoxifies nitrite and nitrate, allowing the biological filter to be more effective in removing them, including heavy metals found in tap water in typical concentrations. It also promotes the production and regeneration of the fish's natural protective mucosa.

It is not an acid and does not impact the pH of the aquarium, use it when starting the aquarium and whenever the water is added or changed.

It may not overactivate protein separators in salt water.

Why is Prime™ different from Seachem?

Almost every company manufactures a product that removes chlorine. None of them, however, can be compared in quality, concentration or effectiveness with Seachem's “flagship” product: Prime™ .

Prime™ is the most concentrated dechlorinator on the market. A single 100 ml bottle treats 4000 liters of tap water.

It eliminates both chlorine and chloramine from the water supplied by the municipal water network.

It also contains a compound that converts ammonia, nitrite and nitrate to non-toxic ones.

It is very important to understand how these functions work together. All antichlorines operate through a chemical process known as reduction. In this process the toxic chlorine gas (Cl2) is converted into non-toxic chlorine ions (Cl-). The reduction process also breaks the bonds between the chlorine and nitrogen atoms in the chloramine (NCl3) molecule, releasing the chlorine atoms and replacing them with hydrogen (H) to create ammonia (NH3).

Antichlorines usually end up here, leaving the aquarium full of toxic ammonia. Seachem, instead, takes the necessary next step; including a compound to detoxify the ammonia produced in the reduction process.

Prime™ supports the natural production and restoration of fish's protective mucosa instead of relying on artificial or non-native compounds.

An added value for reef aquarium hobbyists: Prime™ may not overactivate the protein separator.

Be very careful when purchasing water conditioners. If your municipality adds chloramines to your tap water, a standard dechlorinator based on sodium hyposulfate will not be sufficient.
