The Betta macrostoma is endemic to the island of Borneo, specifically Brunei and Sarawak.
Its form is:
The betta macrostoma, which means "big mouth", is also known as Brunei Beauty and Ikan Pelaga Brunei, has a pointed head
These beautiful fish are mouth brooders, having an unusually large jaw and mouth, hence their name.
Its fins are:
- A long dorsal fin that starts from the back half of its body with a rounded shape
- Pelvic fins are long and perpendicular to the body
- Anal fin is long and very developed, divided in two.
- Caudal fin is fan-shaped.
