eight.four™ provides an adequate carbonate/bicarbonate ratio to the buffer system, which also provides a pK of 8.6, the highest produced in the industry, making it easy to maintain a pH of 8.3-8.5.
Many of the reef aquarium buffers made by our competitors are simply baking soda. These additives have a pK of only 8.0 in salt water and are simply unable to maintain a pH above 8.0. A low pK rate is the cause of a low proportion of carbonate to bicarbonate.
Aquavitro™ offers other solutions designed to solve the unique challenge of increasing pH in a reef environment. Ions™ solves the problem of low Magnesium rate, which is the cause of low pK and pH buffer. Balance™ solves the problem of inappropriate buffer carbonate ratios.
