Our new biotope beds are a unique and original addition to Wio's Hardscape range! We think biotopers, aquaculturists, terrarium makers and everyone in between will value and enjoy our latest offering! Biotope beds are made up of sand and gravel mixtures that we have developed after careful study of natural habitats around the world.
This means that we have analyzed the colour, composition, gradients and geology of aquatic habitats and used this knowledge to create authentic, natural-style substrates that will be especially useful to those interested in developing biotopes, but who might also find a home in aquascapes and emersed displays.
Examples include substrates composed of mixed dark sands, crushed snail shells and pale gravels designed to replicate the crystal clear streams of the Bonito highlands of western Brazil and combinations of reddish and brown sands to mimic the earthy colors of the roads. rivers of the Western Ghats mountains in southern India.
We have even developed substrates based entirely on whole, crushed snail shells, perfect for use in Lake Tanganyika biotope exhibits.
