Because it's different?

Purigen™ controls levels of ammonium, nitrites and nitrates by removing organic nitrogenous waste that would otherwise lead to these toxic compounds. The impact of the product on trace elements is minimal.

Unlike its competitors, Purigen™ is not a mixture of ion exchange resins and absorbents, but rather a single macroporous synthetic polymer that removes soluble and insoluble impurities from water at a rate and capacity that exceeds all others by 500%. .

It progressively darkens until it is exhausted, and is easily regenerated using bleach.

Selective criteria

Purigen™ is the resin with the highest organic matter filtration capacity on the market. No other product compares to its ability to clear turbidity and polish water, achieving unparalleled clarity. Unlike other products on the market, which are simple ion exchangers, Purigen™ is specifically designed to be an organic waste collection resin.

When Purigen™ has just begun to reach its potential, the ion exchange resins are already saturated by metals and other contaminants. The primary source of nitrogen compounds in an aquarium is waste. Fish, corals and even plants produce nitrogenous waste. Purigen™ generally ignores simple elemental compounds, having an extreme affinity for organic nitrogen, thus removing waste faster and more completely than any other product on the market.

Ability

Purigen™ has a very high absorption capacity thanks to its large surface area. All other resins on the market are pellets molded into a spherical shape. These little balls remain soft even under a microscope. Purigen™ is both spherical and macroreticular, containing microscopic pores that increase the usable surface area, thus offering much more surface area than a purely spherical resin.

Regeneration

Purigen™ can also be regenerated. When adsorbing waste, Purigen™ will change color from pale blonde to dark brown, almost black. Once used up, it can be regenerated with a solution of bleach and water. The bleach will literally “expel” the organic waste that has been removed from the tank.

Be wary of products that state they can be regenerated using a brine solution. That is the regeneration procedure to recover resins from ion exchanges. A brine solution will not remove organic compounds. While such resins have a limited capacity for organic absorption, a brine regeneration will only restore the ability to replace ionic compounds. Does not destroy large organic molecules that must be removed, which is the primary function of organic absorption resins
